Fostering Community

Here at Fostering Community our mission is to encourage and empower families involved in adoption and foster care by supporting them as a community!

We partner with local organizations, non profits, and individuals who desire to make a difference and be the village for those involved in foster care and adoption through family events and community connections!

There are approximately 7,000 children in the Wisconsin foster care system. More than 2,000 of those children are in foster care in Milwaukee County. Foster parents can make a difference by providing a structured and nurturing environment to help these children heal, know they are wanted and loved, and begin to thrive! They say it takes a village to raise a child. This couldn’t be more true in foster care and into adoption as both the children and the parents caring for them need a group of supportive individuals around them to encourage and empower them. At Fostering Community it is our mission to help these families be better surrounded by people to do just that. Will you partner with us today to support a family?

Community support is so important to those of us who have large families! Being a foster parent is my greatest gift to the kids! I’ve adopted 9 and wouldn’t change a single thing! Being able to share these fun times with the other parents that have gone through the same thing and do the things they love with the kids just as I do, makes us feel happiness and joy!

I so appreciate being offered events and outings for both foster and adoptive families. I feel like so many things end once the kids are adopted, but the journey certainly does not. I am so thankful that this is recognized and that our family is continually offered things to do!

As a single mom I appreciate all the ways that the community has come around us and the opportunities that are available for both me and my kids to enjoy! Even if there’s an event we are unable to attend, it still feels so good to be seen and recognized and know that people care for us and want to support us in some way!
